Supply the complete spline definition
Provide the spline standard or a dimensioned mating profile, including the tooth count, relevant diameters, engagement length and fit requirements. Include the mating part or gauge information when a standard designation is not available.
Locate the lower pivot connection
Show the shaft position in the assembly, locating shoulders and bearing-contact dimensions. Identify how the part is retained. An upper drive shaft and a lower pivot shaft should not be selected solely because their outside diameters are similar.
Confirm material and finish together
The source reference lists 431 with custom material options. State the required grade, condition, surface treatment and areas that must retain a finished fit. Values with incomplete units in the reference table require drawing confirmation before ordering.
